Tour overview

East Bali: Gates of Heaven & Tirta Gangga Water Palace

East Bali is wilder and greener than the south, with Mount Agung towering over everything. We leave early to beat the queues at Lempuyang Temple, where the split gate frames the volcano.

Afterwards, cool off at the royal water garden of Tirta Gangga, step across its stone paths among koi fish, and finish with a scenic drive through the Sidemen valley.

Experience story

Where Mount Agung watches over everything

Fountain and stepping stones at Tirta Gangga water palace

The early start is worth it. At sunrise the gate at Lempuyang glows pink and Mount Agung floats above the haze — and the queue for photos is at its shortest.

Tirta Gangga was built by the last king of Karangasem as a place to rest. Today it is still a peaceful garden of pools and statues where you can feed the giant koi and sit in the shade with a fresh coconut.
